On the afternoon of September25, Du Youwei, an academician(院士)at the Chinese Academy of Sciences(中國科學(xué)院), a famous expert of magnets(磁學(xué))and magnetic materials(磁性材料)and a professor of Nanjing University, came to our Senior High School and gave an inspirational(勵志的)lecture titled(題目為)"Let your youth fly" to the teachers and students.
At first, Mr. Du encouraged students to have ambitious dreams. He said it is easy for ambitious(志向遠(yuǎn)大的)children to succeed, and he gave some examples off amous scientists from China and abroad. He thinks that Middle School is the most important stage in life. After having a dream,we should take efforts to realize our own dreams. He said, "Genius(天才) isn't born, but it comes from hard work."
Besides this, Mr. Du encouraged students to get into the natureof cultivating(培養(yǎng))curiosity(好奇心)and creative thinking(創(chuàng)造性思維). We can't make our dreams come true easily, but if we make unremitting efforts(堅持不懈的努力)and never give up, we will be successful in the end. Finally, Mr. Du put forward(提出)his expectations(期望)for all the students. He hoped that we would cherish(珍惜)wha twe have, especially our lives. He also hoped that we would be optimistic(樂觀的), united(團結(jié)的)and kind people as well.
During the lecture, Mr. Duused plenty of examples and poems to explain a person's life in different stages. After his speech, the audience's applause(掌聲)continued for a long time. After that, many students took photos with Mr.Du, and asked him for his signature(簽名).
I believe that this lecture has moved all the students, and a seed of science has been planted in our hearts. This seminar will encourage us to work hard and to bravely realize our dreams in the future.
